Dermaplaning is an exfoliating skin care treatment in which a surgical scalpel is gently used to remove dead skin cells and vellus hair, aka peach fuzz, from facial skin.
This mechanical exfoliation treats the build up of dead skin and microscopic hairs which can make your complexion appear dull, flaky and prone to break outs. Dermaplaning assists in achieving a healthy, glowing skin.
Contrary to popular belief, hairs do not grow out thicker or darker. They might feel different as they have been cut straight as opposed to having a natural point. The speed at which the hairs grow does not change after dermaplaning.
Dermaplaning has little to no downtime, making it an ideal lunch time procedure. Mild redness might be experienced.
An SPF 50 must be worn post dermaplaning.
Most patients are eligible for dermaplaning, however; patients with active acne or any active skin conditions require treatment and resolution prior to dermaplaning.
