Some of the reasons for undergoing an Abdominoplasty

- Desire to have a flatter abdomen
Abdominolasty , or tummy-tuck ,is a procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the tummy and to reshape and tighten it. Abdominoplasty is usually sought by patients with loose , sagging skin after pregnancy or major weight loss.
An incision is made from hip to hip , within the bikini-line , to remove the excess tissue and fat. The belly button is released and repositioned.
Dr Kelly will inform you of the exact nature of the scars during the consultation. This operation is carried out under general anaesthetic and will take approximately 3 hours.
Dr Kelly may ask you to lose some weight before the procedure will be performed so as to optimise the effects of the surgery. It is advised to have completed your family before having the procedure done – pregnancy is not advised following this operation.
An abdominoplasty can be combined with liposuction , which performs body contouring of the hips thighs and buttocks. It can also be combined with breast lift surgery , breast augmentation or breast reduction. The popular name for breast surgery combined with abdominoplasty is “mommy makeover”.
