Dr Lauren Hutton

Dr Lauren Hutton is a specialist Family Physician, who qualified as the top 2019 graduate in South Africa, through the University of Stellenbosch.

She graduated from Wits University in 2010 and completed her internship and community service years in Johannesburg. She subsequently moved to the coast and spent time working and training in Port Elizabeth and Cape Town, before settling in Knysna. She lives with her husband and 2 beautiful girls.

Lauren is registered as a specialist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and has an MMed in Family Medicine as well as a Diploma in Anaesthetics, which are registered with the Colleges of Medicine of SA.

Most of her week is spent at the Knysna Provincial Hospital, where she works as a consultant and is involved in patient care, patient safety, training, management and quality improvement. She has a great passion for teaching and mentoring junior doctors, students and nurses.

Dr Hutton is also an external employee of Stellenbosch University and is involved with research, congress planning, textbook contributions and registrar training.

She strives for excellence in all her work and aims to provide patients with evidenced based holistic care, that is centred around the individual. While Dr Hutton can consult and manage an array of different problems in patients of all ages, her special interest is in geriatrics and the care of the elderly.
